The Pixel binding (coursecode: PB-01-23)
In this master class, Benjamin introduces his latest design: the Pixel binding.
Note:: This will be the last time Benjamin will teach this binding!
The Pixel binding is a structure in which the boards (and the spine) are made up of a multitude of squares (the ‘pixels’) which hinge with one another and thus give the binding a remarkable feel, half way between a hard cover and a soft cover binding.
The grid visual that results from the board composition is a striking feature that can lead to many different design concepts.
During this two-day master class, you will learn the basics of the structure by creating a Pixel binding in paper, with suede flyleaves and leather headbands, for one of your books.
Participants will be required to bring a book with content in sections, sewn, glued up and ready for the next steps.
All other supplies, including a special tool indispensable to create a Pixel binding, will be provided in a material pack.
This master class is only suitable for experienced binders.
