The Pleated Hinge (course code: PH-01-25)
The Pleated Hinge is a glueless structure which is sewn on vellum tapes.
We don’t know who developped this structure, the name is a home made name.
The vellum tapes stay visible as a decorative element on the in- and outside of the binding.
Prefectly fit as a conservation binding but also appropriate for all books where you don’t want or can’t use glue.
In this workshop we will make a book with a solid cover with decorative papier and vellum.
You can also make this binding with a vellum cover, in a flexible cover in paper or in other variations.
During the workshop you will see some examples of that.
